“Thank You Lord for Jesus:” The Fulfillment of the Prophecy for Light to the Gentiles

Before Jesus came and His glorious transforming life was proclaimed to the world, the earth was in darkness. The entire world was in the post-Edenic hand of the Evil One. But the coming of Christ Jesus brought the light of Gospel. Nothing has ever been the same.

I am reflecting today on the epiphany or the revelation of the Messiah, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, to the Gentile world. From those first Gentile travelers who brought gifts to Jesus to a child’s note I read today—”Thank you Lord for Jesus”—the families of Mankind have been transformed. Today marks the season of Epiphany, a good season, a good reminder, and an invitation to not only thank God for His light to us, but to pray for His light to spread to others.

The earth is no longer in total darkness. Yet, as the satellite reveals, there are entire nations still in darkness from space. They, too, must be reached with the joy of Jesus our Savior. His light must shine in every tribe and in every tongue. He is glorified in the continuing fulfillment of Epiphany. There is a boat on the shore. There is a light in the distance. Let many heed His call and depart to share that light with those in darkness. The duty of love demands it.

And I too say, “Thank You Lord for Jesus.”

“Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee. For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee. And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising. Lift up thine eyes round about, and see: all they gather themselves together, they come to thee: thy sons shall come from far, and thy daughters shall be nursed at thy side. Then thou shalt see, and flow together, and thine heart shall fear, and be enlarged; because the abundance of the sea shall be converted unto thee, the forces of the Gentiles shall come unto thee. The multitude of camels shall cover thee, the dromedaries of Midian and Ephah; all they from Sheba shall come: they shall bring gold and incense; and they shall shew forth the praises of the LORD” (Isaiah 60:1-6).
