Daily Devotional 12-27-14

Lord, thank you for my children, I ask your will for them in these things, according to your Word.
Early in life, fill my children with love for you, that htey would love you”with all [their] heart and with all [their]soul and with all [their] mind” (Matthew 22:37-40)
Train my children to love deeply, sincerely and sacrificially, seeing and loving others as you do (1 Peter 1:22; 1 John 3:16).  Empower me to daily model your love and compassion for them.
Give my children love for your Word.  Allow them to know and understand it, and to follow it wholeheartedly (Psalm 1:1-3)
Fill them “with knowledge of [your] will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so as to walk in a manner worthy of [you], fully pleasing to [you], bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God” (Colossians 1:9-10; Psalm 90:17 & James 1:51)
Compel them to pray continually(1 Thessalonians 5:17) so that they will live and walk by your Spirit (Galatians 5:25).  Help them to listen to you as Samuel did (1 Samuel 3:10)
Help to train my children to the unique way you’ve designed each one. (Proverbs 22:6; 1 Corinthians 12:4-7; Ephesians 2:10)
Enable me to commit them to your loving care control rather than worry about them. (Philippians 4:6; 1 Peter 5:7)
Give them godly friends (Proverbs 27:17), that they would “stir up one another to love and good works” (Hebrews 10:24)
Cause them to be–and to find–a godly spouse. (Proverbs 31:10-12; Ephesians 5:25-28), or to glorify you in singleness (1 Corinthians7:7-8).  Keep them sexually pure and honorable (1 Corinthians 6:18-20)
Help them to be thankful and content (1 Thessalonians 5:18; 1 Timothy 6:6)
Be their shield in mind, heart & body(Psalm 28:7).  Guard them from the evil one. (2 Thessalonians 3:3).
Grant me wisdom and strength to raise my children in the “discipline and instruction of The Lord” (Ephesians 6:4)
Let them be a people of great faith: “Trust in The Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.  In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths” (Proverbs 3:5-6)
Grant them eternal perspective, “For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal” (2 Corinthians 4:18)
Let your favor rest upon my children (Psalm 90:17)
And this is the confidence that we have toward Him, that if  we ask anything according to his will he hears us.
In Christ Alone
